Getting to Number One in the SERPS!

Getting to Number One in the SERPS!, well lets try it the easy way first. Lets say you had a new product or even a unique product, how can you rank highly in the organic listings; the search results that are free.

Lets say we have got a new meat product and we reckon that yellow sausages are the next big thing, with a pinch of tumeric whilst cooking those snags  turn out a nice yellow hue when done.

Why i picked yellow sausages, I don’t quite know why, just popped into my head, well there are 717,000 results if you do a search in Google, 2,390,000 in Yahoo,  and 2,090,000 in Bing.

Head Meta Tags in the head section of the page:

Couple of notes here, I have the keywords “yellow” and “sausages” in my page title (plus a couple of other words), also have them in the description and keywords which to a degree are lesser important.

Then in the body copy of the page we have a header tag (H2) for the keywords and also in bold in the first line and are used 3 times on the page. We also have a picture of yellow sausages for authenticity , and have the name of the pic using the keywords and also have the image <alt> tage using the keywords. This tag will show the keywords when the mouse is hovered over the image.

Finally we have a youtube video linked which contains my crazy son talking about yellow sausages, the video is named with the keywords in the title and has also been named with the keywords in youtubes values  for description and tags.

Lets see how well it does. Updates added below.

1st December – The youtubevideo is ranking no.2 in Google Web and no.1 in Google Video – this shows us that youtube gets indexed at lightning speed, the actual page is not indexed yet.

2nd December – Youtube video no.1 in Google – but the html page is not indexed yet.

5th December – Youtube video dropped from Google Web rank but stil No.1 in Google Video, original yellow sausages page indexed by Google, this was a bare bones page originally created with lesser effort – currently mid way on page 3 in the serps. Correct page not yet indexed by any of the search engines.

6th December – The Yellow Sausages page has made it to No.1 in Google serps! This page took 6 days to get listed on the index by Google.
