Ping Ping Ping

So you want to increase your web traffic to your blog in WordPress or other blogging software?

Built into WordPress is the ability to notify blogging type directories and services about your blog and also when you change and update your content.

A blogging directory basically lets anyone search by topic or country or both and other criteria, here is an example of one, it will blow your mind with diversity! Well if not at least give you lots to read. The point is that people browse through these directories and if you are in them you may get more traffic directed back to your site.

The back end preference in WordPress for adding blog directories URLs to ping is in the Settings>Writing, down at the bottom is an input field called “Update Services”.

By default there is a good one in there but you will need to add some more to spread the word, these ones are worth adding:

To add others just do a shift return after the last and add the ping URL to another line.
