Crawlers, bots and spiders are those critters that come along when you least expect or you can’t wait ’til they show up uninvited. Once they come and visit and check out your goods they will make a note and come back.
You can identify the bots by looking in your web logs and will discover that the big 3 are:
Google – Googlebot
Yahoo – Yahoo Slurp
Bing – MSNbot (wondering if they’ll change that soon, like Bingbot)
Tags: bandwidth, Bots, Googlebot, indexed, Robots, Spiders, voyager
seo-hub.net has gone live 14th November 2009!! – how long will it be before this site is indexed by a search engine, this will be an initial experiment for this site. I will document time taken to get on to Google, Bing and Yahoo; the three major players.
seo-hub.net is a dedicated resource for all to search and find information on aspects of SEO, internet marketing, building web traffic, using Wordpress and associated aspects to improve your business on the web.
This site will be initially created in WordPress and additional plugins will be installed and configured to improve SEO, I will be covering these in future posts. The first initial configuration in WordPress that needs to be made in order for youe site to be crawled by search engines is in Settings > Privacy: select the option;
- I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers
This was one of my initial errors as it is off by default. Go ahead and switch that on.
