One very coolweb site is the Internet Archive | Way Back Machine, the site documents and retains versions of web sites throughout time. Just insert a URL and it will show you all those nasty web designs from part of the ’90’s to the current day.
It’s a great reference to see what your competition was doing right or wrong, check out the source code of the older sites to see the amount of spam in the meta codes.
The archive also has a bot that goes around, so remember that your site will also be preserved for eternity so don’t leave anything embarrassing lying around.
