There are some meta tags that are still important, well to some anyway, these are looked at by the crawlers and have a big impact on search engine results. When you address these tags you are starting the first steps to SEO your site.
The tags are Page Title and Description and these should sit right at the top of your html page, the Keywords tag follows and should be in there at least for convention sake. See the post earlier for some information on the keyword tag.
